And now. Your Friday BBQ for Houston update.
It’s gonna be a foot race to get there, but they just put a BIG refrigerator truck in the lot at the Vista Village and are scrambling to fill it up with MEAT. Small steaks, chops, turkey, chicken, pork, ham. Five pounds, ten pounds, twenty pounds. Everything helps. The goal is to have TWO full big damn trucks when they hit the road (most likely on) Tuesday. Also canned food items – any size is accepted. And any cash they receive will go straight to buying more meat.
The truck will be there ‘til 9 tonight, then 11 to 9 both Saturday and Sunday.
Thanks for the great support of our fellow Americans.
Imagine what Labor Day is like in HOUSTON
BBQ4Life have taken it upon themselves to lead a campaign to help, in the best way they can, displaced residents in Houston. By cooking for them.
To begin, BBQ4Life will have a truck at 930 S. Vista Avenue in the Vista Village tomorrow/Wednesday. Their plan is to take at least TWO 26 foot trucks along with their biggest smoker, and head south the minute the trucks are filled.
They will accept cash donations, but that's not what they're looking for. Here's the list of what they can use:
- Cases of meat
- Cans of vegetables - the larger sizes
- Styrofoam clam shells
- Aluminum trays and lids
- Paper towels
- Silverware packs (pack with fork, knife. napkin, salt and pepper)
- Food service gloves
- Aluminum foil
- BBQ sauce
- Rubs and seasonings
The truck will be manned and ready to accept donations by 2pm.
