Caldwell man drowns at Lake Lowell

Posted

A Caldwell man drowned Monday evening at Lake Lowell.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office responded at the Lower Dam swimming area of lake Lowell on a report of a possible drowning.

“Witnesses reported that a 28-year-old male swam out to a buoy and then went under the water when he was attempting to swim back to shore,” said canyon County spokesman Joe Decker.

The Sheriff’s Office Patrol and Marine deputies responded and conducted a search of the swim area for the man.  The Gem County Dive Team and Caldwell Fire Department assisted in the search.

At about 7:45 p.m., rescuers recovered the man’s body some twenty yards from shore in about eight feet of water.  The man has been identified as Denny J. Denn of Caldwell, Decker said.

This incident is currently under investigation.

No further information was immediately available.

The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office and all first responders are reminding everyone to use extra caution around the waterways, as the temperatures heat up in the valley.
