Candidate accepts West Ada Superintendent job

Posted

A visiting candidate has accepted an offer to become the next West Ada School District Superintendent.

The West Ada Board of Trustees offered the job to Dr. Mary Ann Ranells after an executive session interview this evening.  Ranells has agreed to take the job and is expected to start in January.  Her compensation is still being negotiated.

"I am so excited! I can’t stand it! I cannot wait to be with the trustees and the administration and the staff and the students. This is a dream come true for me," Ranells said.

Ranells is the first candidate to visit the district and earlier in the evening took part in a community forum.  She also spent Monday touring West Ada schools.

Ranells has more than 40 years of experience in the education field.  She previously served as the state Department of Education’s Deputy Superintendent and as the Lakeland Join School District’s Superintendent.
