Roughly a dozen “Justice For Jack,” supporters gathered at the Idaho Statehouse Friday to urge the Attorney General to release the findings of their investigation into a deadly deputy-involved shooting which resulted in the death of a well-known Council, Idaho rancher.

"We have waited long enough," Boise resident Janelle Wintersteen said. "The longer that report does not come out, the more anger and more rumors about what happened get started."

"I'm originally from Council, and I know the [Yantis] family, and we want answers," Kuna resident Rebecca Barlow said. "It's been over 200 days and it's time that the Attorney General put Jack Yantis first."

In response, Idaho AG Lawrence Wasden issued the following statement:

“All of us, including the residents of Adams County genuinely seek justice in this case,” Attorney General Wasden said. “In order to achieve justice, my office is fulfilling its prosecutorial duty to conduct a thorough, deliberate and careful review of all the evidence that has been gathered in this complex case. The case is a high priority for us, but we only get one chance to achieve justice for everyone involved, including Mr. Yantis. For that reason, I have not imposed any arbitrary timelines that could lead to a rush in judgement. It is my hope that Idahoans will continue to be patient and levelheaded until the review is complete and a decision is made on the proper way to proceed.”

The Idaho State Police conducted an initial investigation and handed it over to the Idaho Attorney General.
