STITES, Idaho – The body of camper who was reported missing in April was recovered from the river in Stites on Friday.
At 4:24 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016, the Idaho County Sheriff's Office was notified of a body in the river at the dike in Stites. Deputies responded to the location and recovered the body of Burke Despain, 64, of Kalispell, MT.
Despain had been reported missing on April 9, 2016, in the area of Hwy 14 milepost 21, where he and his son Jason were camped. His son woke up the following morning and was unable to locate his father.
The victim was taken to Blackmer's Funeral Home and his family has been notified.
