Donahue honored as sheriff of the year

Posted

NAMPA, Idaho (AP) -- Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue has been named sheriff of the year by the Western States Sheriffs' Association. Donohue was presented with the award in Reno, Nevada this past week.

The Idaho Press reports Donahue is being investigated for claims that he misused his official position as sheriff to operate his private nonprofit, K. Donahue Foundation Inc., which operates the Man Up Crusade.

Donahue was recognized by the sheriffs' group for his work with the Man Up Crusade, which seeks to prevent domestic violence.

The investigation of Donohue by the Idaho State Police stems from an anonymous complaint made to the Idaho Attorney General.
