BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A woman accused of theft from estates handled by the Ada County Treasurer's Office has filed a claim against the county, saying the theft was not her fault.
The Idaho Statesman reports that April Rice filed a claim in excess of $250,000 against the county and Treasurer Vicky McIntyre, saying a lack of oversight caused her to receive money from the wrong estate.
Rice and Treasurer's Office employee Eleasha Jenkins were charged on Jan. 29 with multiple felonies. Rice filed a tort claim Feb. 16 against the county in connection to the same estates. Neither woman has been arrested.
A tort claim is a preliminary step before a lawsuit is filed.
