BOISE — As we enter day 31 of the partial government shut down, a group of Boise charities is pairing up to help out.

A free dinner was provided to federal workers affected by the government shut down by Astegos and St. Vincent de Paul.

The mood was set by music provided by the Boise Philharmonic.

Organizers say it was just something they had to do.

"This Federal shut down is running longer than what anybody anticipated it was going to run," Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul Ralph May said. "We put our heads together and said we really need to do something. We need to make sure that the community, and the Federal workers, and those that are affected by the shutdown know the community cares."
