NAMPA — After Sunday’s shooting in Meridian that left three people dead, a candle light and prayer vigil was held in Nampa tonight for the two victims. Dozens showed their support with purple ribbons for domestic violence awareness.

High school classmates of both victims organized the event. For two life long friends, it hit them hard.

“It’s such a tragedy, we’re still having a hard time grasping it. The reason for them is location is because we all went to west junior high together and we used to have to run laps around this pond and so it was always a big drag back in the PE days. We are from the Nampa High Class of 97' and this is our second classmate that we’ve lost due to domestic violence, you know it’s time for a change Idaho,” said Brooke Schiller-Atkinson.

There is a GoFundMe account set up for the children of the victims. https://www.gofundme.com/6oso1h4

Organizers are discussing bringing forth possible legislation called Heidi’s law this year. We’ll continue to bring you any updates on that when there’s more information.
