Treefort Music Fest 2014 has been officially launched after Slow Magic, Avtale, and Rubicon 7 played to a sold out crowd at El Korah Shrine on Friday, January 17th.
The crowd was a mix of all ages and personalities excited about music, local craft beer and the announcements of “themed” tents that will be in downtown Boise for the official Treefort Festival slated for March 20-23.
Organizers walked around with iPads selling festival passes as locals drank Payette, Sockeye, and PBR’s to electronic openers Rubicon 7 and Avtale.
In between sets the audience was treated to a preview of a film festival and “Storyfort” that will be featured at Treefort this year.
The headliner, Slow Magic, appeared on stage in a large glowing tribal mask that hid his face as he played live drums over spacey synth layers that had the audience dancing. At several points, Slow Magic pulled his drums onto the floor and played with the audience surrounding him, creating a unique interactive experience.
Slow Magic played an encore to an appreciative crowd capping the end to an exciting night. One thing was clear from the locals that stepped outside into the cold air: Treefort is an important part of Boise and March can’t come soon enough.
