NAMPA, Idaho — The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is hosting two separate open houses for the public to learn more about the planned improvements for I-84 in Canyon County.

ITD is in different phases of construction on I-84. The open houses will focus on the Franklin Boulevard interchange in Nampa to the Franklin Road interchange in Caldwell. Construction in Nampa is going to resume in February as work continues in sections to the west.

Attendees will have the opportunity to review on comment on ITD's alternative for improvements between Karcher and Franklin in Caldwell. These include a third travel lane, replacement bridges for Middleton and Ustick Roads over I-84, and changes to the Karcher Interchange. That construction is expected to begin in 2021.

Both open houses will take place from 4-7 p.m. on different days. The first public is house is tonight at the Nampa Holiday Inn (16245 N. Merchant Way.) The second open house is Wednesday at the Caldwell Best Western Plus (908 Specht Avenue.)

ITD expects to invest more than $300 million dollars into I-84 in Canyon County over the next few years. You can find more information on the project here.
