MCCALL, Idaho — Another year, another Winter Carnival to visit. This year, McCall's annual celebration of all things weather released their theme for the event, "Legends, Myths and Superheroes". The carnival was inspired by the Payette Lake Winter Games, which were first held in 1924. The first "official" Winter Carnival started in the 1960s and over time it has grown into a large event attracting thousands of people annually.
As always. the festival will feature ice sculptures, fireworks, outdoor recreation activities and a sled dog race. This is the 54th year of the 10-day party. Every year the small town welcomes more than 60,000 visitors. The American Bus Association even named it one of the top 100 events in North America. The McCall Winter Carnival kicks off this Friday and will run through Sunday, February 3rd.
