Treasure Valley kids showed off their skills at Nampa Christian High School for a chance to go to the Elks Regional "Hoop Shoot". Contestants from all over the state took part in the Idaho State Hoop Shoot competition.

One of the young competitors is following in his dad's footsteps who competed locally. He then went all the way to the National Hoop Shoot and won. Now he mentors young basketball enthusiasts.

"I can't think of any other thing that would develop a shooter other than free throws repetitively starting with eighth grade at the shorter line, makes you do perfect form. Lot of kids are playing club basketball at the base line jacking up shots so this elks hoop shoot really gets a shooter dialed in from a young age," said Jacob Bower, previous Elks Hoop Shoot national winner.

The national hoop shoot is in Chicago in April.
