Drivers who frequent State Street in Northwest Boise are no strangers to construction zones. As crews continue work around the intersection with Collister Drive, some lane changes have been put into place.
Traffic on State Street swapped to the North side of the road with limited lanes in each direction as crews paint new lane dividers, but the orange cone lined streets are impacting more than just drivers.
Many local businesses live along that route and with cranes and construction trucks blocking business entrances, some say it's severely hurting their bottom line. One business owner even telling Six On Your side she may be forced to close her doors for good.
"We've seen a decline, customers complaining. It's hard to get in and out of here. It's hard to get to us, business has been down. We aren't selling as much stuff. we don't have as many people in and out of the store as we used to," said Keira Negaard, owner, Once Upon a Time.
Negaard says if things don't improve soon, she will close her store at the end of February.
