Big retailer holding off on Christmas signage to honor Thanksgiving

It's the end of October, and some retailers have already put signs up letting shoppers know they are ready for Christmas. But Target is taking a different approach.

Instead of getting a jump on holiday sale signage at its stores, the retail giant is easing up on displays at the entrances of its stores in order to give the red carpet to Thanksgiving first. Typically, Target has jumped into the holiday spirit immediately following Halloween.

The Associated Press reports Target's chief marketing officer, Rick Gomez, said holding off a bit on Christmas signage is based on feedback of customers.

The stores won't be completely without Christmas in November as it will have wares such as ornaments and trinkets for sale throughout. The change applies mainly to signage at the entrances, Gomez told the AP.
