A fixture of the Idaho skiing scene has died.

A spokesperson for Pomerelle says the resort's longtime owner, A.W. "Woody" Anderson, passed away on Sunday.

Anderson purchased the ski hill in Albion all the way back in 1974.

A founder of the Intermountain Ski Instructors Association, Anderson held many roles in the local ski industry and also served as one of the special envoys from Idaho at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

"Woody" Anderson was 87 years old.
