BOISE, Idaho — On Saturday, Treasure Valley teens kick-started the new year with a Star Wars inspired robotics competition.
Today's celebration starts the 2020 "First Robotics" season at more than 140 locations around the country.
Robotics teams received their kickoff kits with everything they'll need for their designs over the next few months thanks to local sponsors including Micron, H.P., The J.A. Kathryn Albertson's Foundatin and the Idaho Stem Action Center.
"Everybody usually listens to each other, and we all try to build off each others ideas so it helps us gain a better perspective of the problem and what works and what doesn't so everybody's really considerate about it," said Kelli Dittrich, president of the Naskcorpions.
The teams will spend the next two months working together before the Idaho competition March 26th-28th.
