3% Idaho to act as intermediary in Oregon

Posted

3% Idaho has called for its members to gather outside of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge to create what they say will be a neutral party to deescalate things in case law enforcement and Bundy militia members clash.

"We are going to encourage an open dialogue between an intervening federal agencies and the occupiers and to ensure that no aggressive action from either party is initiated. We wish to serve as a neutral third party intermediary to prevent any Waco style situation from unfolding" said Chris McIntire, a spokesman for 3% of Idaho

The group said they won’t interfere if police decide to arrest militia members but said that a peaceful resolution from both sides is the goal.

3% Idaho has explicitly said they do not support Bundy and other militia members that have taken over the federal building near Burns, Oregon.

"A lot of patriots are freedom-loving Americans,” McIntire explained in a previous interview. “They work in their communities. They love their communities. They love what this country stands for and they know their rights and they want to stand up for them. There are fringe elements out there. There are extremists out there who do hold some of our ideas but they are willing to take them much farther as in this situation."
