From a hostage situation to the unthinkable, the Nampa Police Department's Tactical Response Team goes to it all. In 2016 they responded to over thirty calls.

With a loud bang and a puff of smoke, they will sometimes use non-lethal grenades before they enter a hostile situation. They get to the scene in style. Police say the M.R.A.V (Multi-role Armored Vehicle) which they got for pennies on the dollar from Uncle Sam not only can cause some suspects to surrender when they see, but police say it provides cover for officers if a firefight where to go down.

During the Nampa Police Department's Public Safety Academy, I was able to try some of their weapons first hand including a semi-automatic M-4 Rifle. Police on the SWAT team practice regularly with their firearms to make sure they stay safe. Currently, Nampa P.D has nineteen members on their swat team and hope to add one more team member soon.
