Firebird Raceway is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

This weekend the 46th annual Pepsi Nightfire Nationals gets underway, and there is a local father and son team that is ready to burn up the track.

Tim Wallace and his son Tim junior are two peas in a pod when it comes to drag racing.

"He was racing when I was born," says Tim, Jr. "This is it. Been at it ever since."

The senior Tim owns Westside Body Works.

He says drag racing is in his blood.

And Junior? Well, he just couldn't resist.

"That's all he talks about -- going drag racing," says Tim, Sr.

It's a loud and expensive hobby, but the Wallaces don't mind.

"It's just something for us to go do," says Tim, Sr. "Hopefully, there's a big check at the end of the weekend."
