BOISE, Idaho — 6 On Your Side had a chance to get out in the community Thursday, all in an effort to explain the importance of reading.

The Good Morning Idaho Crew, Chief Meteorologist Scott Dorval, Don Nelson, and other 6 On Your Side employees volunteered their time at Ustick Elementary School to share their love of reading.

This past year, employees at 6 On Your Side had the chance to donate part of their paycheck toward buying books for children in our community. Our parent company, E.W. Scripps, matched our donations. Thanks to those donations, we were able to give every student at Ustick Elementary their very own book.

We were also able to fill their library with more than 250 new books.

As part of our campaign, 6 On Your Side and our dozens of sister stations distributed more than 172,000 books across the country to children in need.

Jillian Garrigues, Matt Sizemore, Scott Dorval, and Don Nelson all read to the kids during an all school assembly as a reminder to always keep your passion for reading.
