The Ada County Sheriff's Office has fired a detention deputy after his arrest on an attempted strangulation charge.

28-year-old Matthew Pond turned himself in on Monday and he was booked into the Canyon County Jail.  A felony arrest warrant had been issued on Friday.

Investigators tell us this all started with an incident at Pond's home in Caldwell on February 17th.  Police tell us Pond told his supervisor about the incident the next day and he was placed on administrative leave.  The Ada County Sheriff's Office fired Pond on Monday.

The incident at Pond's home is under investigation by the Caldwell Police Department.
