When the Boise State Broncos football team took the field this season, they were playing for more than just reaching the Mountain West championship game -- they were helping solve hunger in Idaho.
For each sack the Broncos defense tallied this season, Albertsons promised to donate $500. When the Broncos finished with just fewer than 40 sacks this season, Albertsons rounded up, donating $20,000 on the field of the regular season finale at Albertsons Stadium on Saturday.
The donation is enough to provide 100,000 meals for hungry Idahoans, and is part of an overall giving strategy by Albertsons which has provided more than 4.5 million meals in the last two fiscal years alone.
