BOISE, Idaho — Albertsons is hosting a company-wide fundraiser to help families in need during COVID-19.

Starting Wednesday, March 25, shoppers at any of the local Albertsons locations can donate on the pin pads when they check out. All donations will stay local, according to the company, and will go toward providing meals to seniors, children who rely on school-funded meals, and helping families access federal food programs.

The company says the campaign, called "Help Feed Families During This Crisis," is all in an effort to support the community.

"It's so important for us to give back to the community that has supported us for so many years, and following Joe Albertsons' philosophy when he started Albertsons here in Boise in 1939 of taking care of our customers and our associates right here in our community," said Kathy Holland, a spokeswoman with Albertsons.

The company has also pledged $3 million toward the campaign.
