Rathdrum AMBER Alert canceled

UPDATE (6/11 4:55 p.m.) The AMBER Alert has been canceled. The victim and suspect are no longer of interest to the Rathdrum Police Department, according to a press release.

No further information was given from Idaho State Police.

UPDATE (9:16 p.m.) Police say a new vehicle is of interest in the case of an active AMBER alert for an abducted child in Rathdrum, Idaho.

The vehicle is a black 2012 4-door Nissan with an Idaho license plate number K616700. The direction of travel is unknown, possibly headed to Oklahoma or Nevada.

UPDATE (4:48 p.m.)

An AMBER Alert has been activated for an abducted child in Rathdrum, Idaho.

The Rathdrum Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating 6-year-old Leo Hiibel-Cloutier and 17-year-old Gene W. “GW” Hiibel.

Police believe Leo and Gene may be in the company of his 35-year-old mother, Mimi C. Hiibel. Police say Hiibel recently lost her parental rights for Leo.

Leo and Gene were last seen on Sunday, May 31st, 2020, at 8:00 am at the Rathdrum Super 1 Foods, according to police.

Leo is 4’ 00” and weighs 70 pounds. Leo is described as a white male with short black hair and brown eyes-- he also has a large gap between his two front teeth and speaks with a speech impediment.

He was last seen wearing black jeans, a plain white t-shirt, a camouflaged colored hooded jacket, and black tennis shoes.

Gene is 5’11” and weighs 170 pounds. Gene is described a white male with light brown hair and hazel eyes. Gene was last seen wearing blue jeans and a tan colored “Carhart” style jacket.

Police say the mother and suspect, Mimi Hiibel, is a white female with brown hair and green eyes. Hiibel is 5’04” tall and weighs approximately 145 pounds, and according to police she has a tattoo on the back of her left hand, near her thumb. The tattoo looks like the letter “J”.

Mimi’s car, a 1988 white Honda Accord, was located abandoned in the Hayden, Idaho, area. It is unknown what vehicle she may be driving.

UPDATE: The 1988 white Honda Accord has been found and no longer of interest. Idaho State Police did not share where the vehicle was found.

ORIGINAL STORY: An AMBER Alert has been activated for an abducted child in Rathdrum, Idaho. The Rathdrum Police Department is looking for 6-year-old Leo Isador Hiibel-Cloutier. He is believed to be in imminent danger and last seen at a Super One Foods in Rathdrum on May 31 at 8 a.m.

Leo is around 4 feet tall and weighs around 70 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing black corduroy pants, white t-shirt, black tennis shoes and camouflage hooded jacket.

The suspect is Leo's non-custodial mother, Mimi Charmayne Hiibel, 35. She has brown hair, green eyes, stands around 5'04" and weights around 145 pounds. She has a tattoo on the back of her left hand near the thumb of a "J." It is unknown what she was wearing last.

The vehicle they may be traveling in is a 1988 White Honda Accord with an Idaho license plate number K670043. The direction of travel is unknown, possibly headed to Oklahoma or Nevada. There may be a 16-year-old male traveling with them.
