Annual Idaho Rally International Rally Race this weekend

The normally quiet and tranquil forests surrounding Idaho City will have some roars echoing through the trees this weekend.

With revved up engines, tires spitting up dirt and the howl of excited spectators and participants, it’s a gearhead's dream.

The Idaho Rally International is easily summed up by driver Dan Rockrohr.

“High speed.  And dirt,” Rockrohr said.

The appeal of the event is the natural environment that Idaho offers.

"The natural hazards that are there, they have to negotiate and just the thrill of an uneven road, It's not planned by any means," Rockrohr explained.

Even though 6 On Your Side Brandon Fonda got a test ride (which almost resulted in losing his lunch), Rockrohr has a different take on the thrill of the event.

“It's incredible to be able to slide through some corner at 60, 70 miles an hour on a dirt road; it's a pretty amazing feeling."
