NAMPA — The Canyon County Sheriff's office arrested a suspect after a deadly shooting Friday morning at a farm west of Caldwell.

Authorities say deputies arrived at the farm, near Upper Pleasant Ridge Rd. and Beet Rd., to find a 45-year-old man dead from multiple gun shot wounds. Police say, a short time later, they arrested a 58-year-old Nampa man in connection with the shooting. Rene Jaramillo Navarrete faces a charge of second-degree murder.

According to officials, numerous witnesses reported seeing a verbal dispute between the suspect and the victim, who has yet to be identified. Police say Navarrete fled, but was located in Nampa around 9:50 a.m. and taken into custody without incident.

“It’s a sad situation all the way around," said Sheriff Kieran Donahue. "You certainly have two families who have experienced a significant tragedy in their lives today. You have two individuals, one being deceased, as I say, and another individual in custody,"

Officials do not believe there is any threat to the public.
