Art in the Park kicks off in Boise

Posted

A Boise tradition that marks the end of summer, Art in the Park.

Over 200 unique artists, two of them being a husband and wife duo.

"We've been married over thirty years, we live up in Robie Creek and we live in the house we met in," said Kat Dellamater, artist.

They were looking for something to do as a couple.

"I thought boy I'd like to make a tile backsplash, maybe I should look around for some tile. I then thought maybe I should start making my own tile and that's what happened, started making tile, put it in artwork and ended up where we are now."

Inspiration for their work comes from the place they call home.

"We have stampeding herds of quail all around our house so I do a lot of quail, lot of birds."

"The amount of support that the Boise art museum gets through this show, I don't think you can measure it. I think it brings people out. It makes people appreciate art. It makes them bring it in to their own home. It's really a highlight for Boise."

Keep in mind that this is a walk in event but there are free shuttles to and from Boise State's Brady Garage.

There is also free bike parking.
