One assisted living center has started its own pen pal program for its residents.
The Cottages Assisted Living is looking for anyone who loves to write and wants to create a long-lasting friendship, to be a pen pal with one of their residents.
The assisted living center has locations in Nampa, Boise, Meridian, and more.
They ask you to write in a letter and you will be matched with a resident who has similar interests.
The staff says this is a great way for the residents to stay connected with the outside world especially while they might not be able to have visitors.
“This pen pal program, [the residents] are really excited about because it's going to let them get a little more in touch with the outside world and they can’t have their grandkids come and visit them then at least they can correspond with these other kids out there and get to know somebody new,” Community Outreach Coordinator, Lily Conant says.
