BBB: Use caution with out of area companies

BOISE, Idaho — As we all start to get outside more and social distancing restrictions loosen, officials say expect to see an increase in the number of out of state vendors peddling their wares in the Treasure Valley. Be it a company with a booth at an events show or single door-to-door solicitor, the Better Business Bureau is advising us to keep our guard up and buy with caution.

"They are only here for a short time," said Dale Dixon, BBB Spokesperson. "There's nobody to follow up the service. Number two, the reputation of the company. Do they have a track record of doing right by the customer as they move through cities, and number three is the price highly inflated?"

The BBB also says don't be rushed into making a rash decision when approached by an out-of-state company and do your research to make sure you are getting the best product at the best price.

"We ask that you don't be rushed into making a rash decision on a sales floor inside of an event center or fairgrounds, and then not have time to change your mind and to shop around to make sure that you're getting the best product of value at a good price," said Dixon.
