Will legislation help reduce wildfires? Research from last year's wildfires in North-Central Idaho points to Federal funding that reduce wildfires.

US Senators Crapo (R-Idaho), Wyden (D-Oregon), and Risch (R-Idaho) have introduced Federal legislation that directs existing disaster funding accounts pay for costs of fighting catastrophic wildfires in the same way they pay for floods, earthquakes, and hurricanes.

The study they are basing their actions on says that will preserve funding for land treatment and restoration efforts that can help prevent fires from starting in the first place.

The research is to be presented today at 12 PM.  Stay with this story throughout the day for updates.
