Beloved KIVI station manager retires

Ken Ritchie has been here from the beginning, and I mean the beginning.

KIVI-TV, the new ABC affiliate for the Treasure Valley, signed on the air in early 1974. To put that in perspective, Richard Nixon was still president.

A graduate of the University of Idaho, this hardcore Vandal took a job as a sales assistant for the new station in Nampa. Speaking personally, I've known Ken for over half that time, and he was always there if you needed to talk about the operation of the station or how to improve your golf swing.

He loved KIVI-TV. Still does, and I know he's going to miss it, but looks forward to spending time with his wife Karen, and his two sons, Zach and Alex. Most of that time will be spent not in a rocking chair but probably on a golf cart at his family's cabin in the woods.

Ken Ritchie is a loyal person, who wanted more than anything to leave the station accomplishing all the goals he set out for himself, and to leave the station in excellent order.

Ken, feel free to check that one off your list. Enjoy retirement!
