BOISE, Idaho — 33 different teams competed in the U.S. Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association Western Regional Championship at Bogus Basin this weekend.

The top four teams for both the men and the women advanced to the national championship in Lake Placid, New York.

The College of Idaho barely missed receiving that honor as the competition started on Saturday. The Yotes were in fourth place in the giant slalom, but after Saturday, they dropped to fifth.

CORRECTION
Although the Yotes finished 5th on Saturday their combined total in the slalom and giant slalom did EARN them a spot finishing third in the combined event and a trip to the national championship.

C of I's Trevor Trimble finished 16th overall. The College of Idaho women finished 12th.

One rider from the University of Utah tells us he enjoyed attending the regional competition at Bogus Basin.

"Bogus Basin is really sweet; this is an awesome place," said Declan Picot. "I came here when I was younger, but I really didn’t get to ski around and it’s a super good, awesome vibe and everybody is really nice."
