BOISE, Idaho — Bogus Basin announced this week preseason summer operations will begin Memorial Day weekend. The nonprofit recreation area will open to the public Saturday, May 25.

Activities include the Glade Runner Mountain Coaster, scenic rides on the Deerpoint Chairlift and the Shafer Butte Mining Co. gem panning station. Food and beverage offerings feature the Double R Ranch BBQ Smokehouse menu, which will be served in the Simplot Lodge Base Area.

Access to biking and hiking trails are not yet available as snow remains on many places on the mountain.

Guests can take advantage of special preseason prices on the Glade Runner. An unlimited coaster and chairlift package will cost 29 dollars plus tax throughout the weekend.

Preseason hours will be every weekend, plus Memorial Day (May 27) from 11 am through 5 pm. Operations will expand to seven days a week starting Thursday, June 20 with hours extending to 11 am through 7 pm.

Last summer was the first year for seven day a week operations at Bogus Basin. Around 100,000 people visited the area to enjoy hiking, biking, base area activities, food and Music on the Mountain. Music on the Mountain is a free, family-friendly outdoor concert series.

New events this summer include Bogus Fest, a two-day tribute band music festival on June 21-22. The Boise MTN Bike Festival will be on August 24. For more information on all these activities, check out the Bogus Basin website.
