BOISE, Idaho — Bogus Basin's newest amenity is up and running, the new Morning Star Express gets people up the mountain eight minutes faster than the old chairlift.
Skiers and snowboarders had a reason to rejoice on Friday as not only did they have access to a new high speed quad, but the terrain on the backside of the mountain opened as well.
"The new Morning Star Express really transforms the experience on the mountain," said Susan Saad of Bogus Basin. "Instead of eleven minutes up this lift, it takes three minutes so we can get the expert skiers over to the backside of the mountain quickly.”
The people who ride at Bogus Basin believe this new lift will really help on the busy powder days.
“The line should be a whole lot shorter," said a snowboarder who goes by Boarder Mike and has been riding at Bogus Basin for 30 years. "I don’t think it will cut the lines in half on a Saturday afternoon, but it should cut them down to where we can just rock and roll.”
Bogus Basin is gearing up to open for night skiing on Saturday and during the holidays the mountain will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. On January 5 the mountain will open at 10:00 a.m.
The Morning Star Express is Bogus Basin's fourth high speed quad and the first new lift since 2011.
