Boise City Council to hold special meeting in connection to Chief Doan matter

BOISE, Idaho — Sources confirm the Boise City Council will hold a special meeting tomorrow in connection to Boise Fire Chief Dennis Doan.

The meeting will be held at 12:30 p.m. in the Maryann Jordan City Council Chambers at Boise City Hall.

It all started Monday when a Boise Fire spokesperson told 6 On Your Side that Doan would be placed on administrative leave, but provided no further comment.

Then, Boise Mayor Lauren McLean announced that Deputy Chief Romeo Gervais will serve as Acting Chief of the Boise Fire Department, while Doan is on leave.

Our partners at The Idaho Statesman caught up with him Wednesday when he announced he would be retiring at the end of May. This -- before another plot twist came out.

"I want to thank Mayor Bieter for appointing me Fire Chief, I loved working for him... and I just appreciate it so much. And today, I'm announcing my retirement. I want to set the record straight that putting me on administrative leave is not because I did anything wrong -- I was never told I did anything wrong," said Doan.
