Boise County attorney charged with felony DUI

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Boise County Prosecuting Attorney Jolene Maloney has been charged with a felony count of driving under the influence.

Maloney was convicted of two prior misdemeanor DUIs in 2012 and 2013, making the latest charge a felony. She has also been open about being an alcoholic in recovery.

She is being held in Ada County Jail and appeared in Fourth Judicial District Court Friday afternoon.

According to prosecutors, Maloney was driving 53 mph in a 35 mph zone resulting in her being pulled over by police.

She is being held on a $50,000 bond and will not be able to drive during the duration of her trial.

If convicted, she could face up to 10 years in prison.

The 40-year-old Maloney was also charged with misdemeanor injury to a child and disturbing the peace in 2010 but received withheld judgments on those charges.

Maloney will appear in for a court hearing on April 22nd.
