Boise Fire Chief placed on administrative leave

UPDATE: Deputy Chief Romeo Gervais will serve as acting chief of the Boise Fire Department while Chief Dennis Doan is on administrative leave. Boise Mayor Lauren McLean says Gervais' career "spans over two decades."

Doan was placed on administrative leave for "personnel reasons." Our partners at the Idaho Statesman report Doan is still employed with the department and his leave is paid.

Doan makes just over $165,000 a year.

ORIGINAL STORY: Boise Fire Chief Dennis Doan has been placed on administrative leave, according to a Boise Fire spokeswoman.

The spokeswoman says Boise Fire can't comment on the reason behind the decision, but says it's a personnel issue and is effective immediately.

No official word yet on who will be replacing the chief on an interim basis.
