UPDATE: Search crews located the body of Kyle Wimpenny on Sunday around 2:30 p.m.

"It appears Kyle fell approximately 1,000 feet while attempting to summit Kings Peak," the Summit County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.

Wimpenny's body was taken off the mountain via helicopter with assistance from the Utah Department of Public Safety.

ORIGINAL STORY: A Boise backpacker has not been seen for days after heading to Utah, officials said.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Department in Utah said Friday that Kyle Wimpenny, 25, was last seen in Idaho on Sunday.

“Kyle planned to backpack to Kings Peak in Summit County, Utah, and return home by Wednesday, Sept. 16,” the Summit County Sheriff said.

Rescue officials have been searching for Wimpenny since Thursday morning, according to the sheriff’s office. Summit County Search and Rescue found his car at the Henry’s Fork trailhead, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.

Henry’s Fork Trail is a 26.8-mile trail, according to AllTrails. It is considered difficult.

“If anyone was in the area and believe they saw Kyle, please call us at 435-615-3601,” the Summit County Sheriff said.
