BOISE, Idaho — A Boise man has been booked into the Ada County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

About 1:15 p.m. Monday, Boise Police officers were dispatched to a “call for service” at a home near the intersection of State and Bloom Streets.

When officers arrived, they found a 56-year-old woman, identified as Darla Fletcher by the Ada County Coroner, dead at the scene.

At first, they began investigating it as a suspicious death; but evidence later led them to conclude the woman had been murdered, according to reports.

On Tuesday afternoon, police arrested her ex-boyfriend, 56-year-old David Randall, who they say was in the home at the time. In court, investigators said Randal tortured and then bludgeoned Fletcher to death.

Randal is scheduled to appear in court again on December 30. If convicted, he could face a minimum of 10 years in prison.

Prosecutors say they haven't decided if they'll ask for the death penalty.
