Steven Danielson cannot believe how quickly the Table Rock Fire decimated his home.
Hands blackened, he sifted through the ashes looking for any items that haven’t been charred.
"It's all gone. We really haven't lost anything you know, we have our family, and our family is pretty dang strong," Danielson explained.
Danielson credits his family’s survival of the fire to his step-daughter.
“She is my angel. I haven’t got to tell her or hug her or anything. Kayla did the right thing. Me and your mom are here, and your brothers are here because, I don’t know, you were there for us so thanks. I know mom is happy,” Danielson said.
Kayla was on her way home when she saw flames crawling down the hill toward the house. She drove toward the spreading fire to warn Steven, his wife and three kids who were all asleep inside of the home.
"My stepdaughter had come in the house yelled and screamed at us to get up and get out. When we came out of the house, it was 20 feet away. It was like a blanket, and I couldn't see down there at the bottom."
Danielson is still trying to figure out what he is going to do next due to the fact the home didn’t have home insurance, but he is grateful to be alive.
