Boise Police have arrested an 18-year-old Boise man in connection with the death of a 7-year-old Nampa boy riding his bike in south Boise in July.

Conner Brant has been booked into the Ada County Jail on misdemeanor manslaughter charges after police say he hit and killed the little boy. 7-year-old Eduard Prokophuck was riding his bike on the north side of West Amity Road, east of Cloverdale Road, when he was hit by a pickup truck traveling west on Amity.

Two other boys, both under the age of 10, were also riding their bikes on the side of Amity. One received minor injuries in the crash, and the third boy was not injured.

Brant, the driver of the pickup, stopped immediately and went back to the scene of the crash. When deputies arrived, Brant was with Prokophcuk. Paramedics arrived and took Prokophcuk to a local hospital. The boy died early Friday evening, according to a report from the Ada County Coroner.

A witness told investigators when the pickup hit the bike, the force threw Prokophcuk from the bike into a fence near the side of the road. The Brant told investigators he swerved to avoid something in the road just before the crash.
