You may dread preparing for your morning drive these days. A cold car is just not very appealing.
The Boise Police Department wants to remind people to think twice before leaving your car running unattended in your driveway.
The department said thieves are taking advantage of the weather to steal your wheels.
They are getting stolen car reports up to four times a week.
"Places where people are parking in their garage, we don't see a lot of car break-ins, said Sergeant John Terry. "At apartment complexes where people have to park on in the street, that's where we see a lot of car break-ins and thieves know that and they drive around in the morning looking for cars to steal."
Terry suggests drivers carry two sets of keys and leave their vehicles locked while waiting for them to defrost after a night of freezing temperatures.
