BOISE, Idaho — The Boise Police Department says they have arrested a Garden City man after a report of a fight and stabbing on S. 13th Street. BPD responded to the report at around 7:30 p.m. on October 8.

When officers arrived, they made contact with the suspect, later identified as Robert Joseph, 49, according to BPD. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After an initial investigation, Boise Police says they got evidence the attack on the victim appeared to be unprovoked. BPD said in a news release that "Joseph’s demeanor was erratic and despite attempts to calm him down, he continued to behave in an unpredictable manner."

At one point, Joseph acted aggressively towards an officer during the investigation and another officer used his taser on Joseph. According to the release, the taser initially had an effect on Joseph and officers were able to take him into custody.

Once in custody, Joseph continued to struggle with officers and behaved in a way "consistent with being under the influence of a controlled substance," said Boise Police in the release. Joseph was taken to the hospital before being booked into the Ada County Jail on charges of Felony Aggravated Batter and misdemeanor Resisting or obstructing officers.

A photo of Joseph is not on the Ada County Jail website at this time.
