BOISE, Idaho — UPDATE: Kate Nelson was found safe Tuesday morning and has been reunited with family members.

Original Story: Police are investigating the disappearance of a Boise woman who hasn’t been seen since last week.

Kate Nelson is described as 5-feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. She is believed driving a silver 2017 Hyundai Elantra with Ada County license plate: 1/A 147FF.

Since May, Nelson and her two children -- a 6-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter –- have been living with her mother, Kathy Nelson, at her mother’s North End Boise home. She left the home Tuesday, October 8th and hasn’t been seen since.

“My gut feeling is: something is wrong,” Kathy Nelson told us. “It is very unusual for her to disappear like this and not tell anyone. She has never done this before. And for her to leave her kids (behind) is unbelievable.”

The missing woman is employed at a local restaurant. Workers at the restaurant report they have not seen her, either.

“Boise Police officers are following some information,” said BPD spokesperson Haley Williams. “Kate has also been added to NCIC (the National Crime Information Center), so any law enforcement who comes into contact with (Kate) knows to do a welfare check on her.”

“I’ve called hospitals and police and even tracked her phone,” her mother posted on social media. “There is still no sign of Kate.”

If you’ve seen Kate Nelson or her vehicle, or know of her whereabouts, you are urged to call Crimestoppers at 208-343-COPS or your local law enforcement agency.
