Driver suspected of multi-car hit and run in custody

UPDATE: The man suspected of crashing his mustang into a truck and ten other cars in a downtown Boise parking garage was found and arrested Wednesday. Demariea L. Dawkins, 27, of Livermore, California, also fled the scene of the crash.

Officers found evidence that Dawkins may have left town but remained in the surrounding area, possibly near Idaho City. With help from the Boise County Sheriff's Office, Dawkins was taken into custody and transported to the Ada County Jail.

Dawkins was booked on the following charges:

  • Malicious Injury to Property (F)
  • Reckless Driving- 2nd Offense (m)
  • Failing to Notify Upon Striking an Unattended Vehicle (m)
  • Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol (m)
  • Failing to Notify Upon Striking Fixtures (m)
  • Agents Warrant (F)

ORIGINAL STORY: Boise Police responded to a hit-and-run crash in a downtown Boise parking garage on S. 9th St.

According to police, the driver hit 11 vehicles in a yellow Mustang and fled the scene.

Police say the Mustang fled the scene after dragging a truck for a short time.

Police found the suspect's vehicle abandoned and there was additional damage to light pole and traffic sign.

Officers are hoping to speak to Damariea Dawkins, the registered owner of the vehicle.

Police are still investigating the incident.
