BOISE, Idaho — The Board of Trustees for the Boise School District approved extending the current soft school closure through May 22, 2020. The decision lets district officials move forward on graduation, personal item pick-up and summer school.

Graduation ceremonies are postponed until the week of July 20. The Board approved video celebrations for seniors in May at all high schools. Any in-person gatherings in July will need to comply with CDC guidelines that are in place at the time.

School principals are working on plans to let families and students get their personal items from schools in the next few weeks.

Starting April 13, parents and students will be able to access grade level and course specific weekly lessons for the rest of the school year. Teachers will be available for students and families with support and feedback as they finish the year. Individual support schedules will be shared in the next few days.

Student grades will not be negatively affected during remote learning. Teachers will be able to provide opportunities for enrichment and growth, and students will be able to use this to improve grades.

Following the decision by the City of Boise to close its tennis courts, all Boise School District tennis courts are now closed. School tracks will remain open, but all gathering areas (bleachers, benches, etc.) are off-limits.
