BOISE, Idaho — Boise State President Marlene Tromp announced Wednesday that Boise State University is "reimagining" the spring commencement, originally scheduled for May 9. In an email to students, Tromp said the postponement is to keep students and loved ones safe, and to respond to health authorities' call to slow the spread of COVID-19.

A worldwide, digital event will be held in May with faculty, students and special guests. The Class of 2020 will be invited to a traditional commencement ceremony in December. There will be special events dedicated to the Class of 2020 during December.

The emailed announcement came after Governor Brad Little announced a 21-day stay-at-home order.

President Tromp also recorded a video from her kitchen with the announcement.
