BOISE, Idaho — The lighting of the Downtown Boise Holiday Tree, a tradition for hundreds of families, has been rescheduled for this Friday, December 6th at 6:00 p.m. at The Grove Plaza.

Boise Mayor Dave Bieter will light the tree during a candlelit celebration presented by Idaho Central Credit Union. A military family from the Idaho Army National Guard will be joining Bieter on stage for the countdown.

The event was rescheduled after the original tree, donated by the Woodward Family of Boise, fell due to unknown reasons on Thanksgiving evening.

Each gift tag surrounding the tree during Friday’s ceremony will have a Wish List item from the Women’s and Children’s Alliance. Those attending the event are encouraged to take a tag benefiting families at the shelter. Items can be dropped off at the WCA or any of the following Idaho Central Credit Union branch locations:

Downtown Branch
200 N. 4th St.
Boise, ID 83702

Vista Branch
2770 S. Vista Ave.
Boise, ID 83705

Fairview Branch
11255 W. Fairview Ave.
Boise, ID 83713

Donations must be dropped off by December 20th to ensure delivery to the WCA in time for Christmas!

Downtown Boise’s schedule is full of other fun events the same evening! You can enjoy a horse drawn carriage ride in downtown Boise, courtesy of Washington Trust Bank; the Idaho Steelheads are on the ice at 7:10 p.m., taking on the Allen Americans; or you can experience Boise Philharmonic’s annual performance of “Handel’s Messiah” in the beautiful St. John’s Cathedral at 8:00 p.m.
