BPD investigating after man threatened to burn a woman he believed identified as LGBTQ+

Boise Police are investigating a report of malicious harassment after a male allegedly harassed and threatened to burn a woman he believed identified as LGBTQ+.

Police responded to a park near W. Elder Street and S. Owyhee Street around 7 p.m. Sept. 17 after an unknown male approached a woman, harassing and threatening to burn her, according to BPD.

The victim believed she was targeted by the man because he thought she identified as LGBTQ+, police said in a news release. Officers began to investigate the incident under the state's Malicious Harassment Law after reviewing evidence.

No suspect has been identified. Police described the suspect as a white male, aged 30 to 50 and about 5-foot-9-inches and unshaven. He was described as wearing all black shorts, shirt, shoes, baseball hat and sunglasses.
